Violinist Philippe Graffin has recorded a work for violin and orchestra by Eugène Ysaÿe that had lain undiscovered for more than a century. I reconstructed the orchestration based on the manuscripts and annotations left by Ysaÿe.
The recording of the Ysaÿe's Poéme Concertant was made by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, with Phillippe Graffin, violin and Jean-Jacques Kantorow, conductor.
After the discovery of Ysaÿe’s seventh Sonata featured in Philippe Graffin’s 2020 documentary Ysaye’s Secret Solo Sonata, this new documentary Ysaÿe’s Secret Concerto/L’œuvre retrouvée follows the violinist as he reveals the story behind another ’secret’ work from the great Belgian master violinist and composer, his Poéme Concertant.
